Rebecca Malope is a South African gospel singer. She hosts the TV show "It's Gospel Time."
Rebecca’s story starts in 1986.
Driven by a burning desire to become South Africa’s most celebrated and admired songstress, Rebecca, then 21 years old, and her sister Cynthia, left their home township of Lekazi near Nelspruit and hiked 400 km to Evaton from where they finally reached Johannesburg. This brave step launched a personal journey of achievement that was destined to touch the hearts and minds of millions.
In 2003 she won a KORA All African Music Award for Best Gospel Singer.
She really pushed for her 35th album, to be a huge success by bringing in big name collaboration’s. “Sis’ Ribs” as she is affectionately known, has brought on board Sizwe Zako as well as Robbie Malinga and Mojafela Thebe. She has also diversified with Afro-pop musicians Zahara, Naima Kay and Ntando which was recorded live with her band. The album titled AmaVIP, sends an important message, that is Heaven there is no middle or working class and everyone is equal in Gods eyes.
